ONLINE THERAPY SPECIALTIES

Evidence-Based Online Therapy for Teens & Adults in Michigan + Illinois

There are plenty of reasons people end up in therapy.

Sometimes you know exactly what yours is. You’ve got the diagnosis, you’ve read about it, and you could probably explain the pattern yourself.

Other times, you just know you’re spending way too much time thinking, checking, preparing, managing, avoiding, recovering, or trying to keep everything together.

You don’t need the perfect label before we can start figuring out what might help.

01 / OCD + INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS

Online OCD Therapy & ERP for Intrusive Thoughts

Your brain can come up with a truly impressive number of reasons why you need to be completely sure.

You replay the conversation. Google the question again. Check how you feel. Ask someone you trust what they think. Go back over the memory because this time, surely, you’ll finally figure it out.

It works for a minute.

Then the doubt finds another opening.

OCD therapy isn’t about finding better answers to every question. Using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), we work on changing what happens when the question shows up in the first place, so uncertainty doesn’t get to take up quite so much of your day.

02 / ANXIETY

Online Anxiety Therapy for Teens & Adults

There is always something your brain could be preparing for.

The conversation tomorrow. The decision you haven’t made yet. The email you sent three hours ago. The possibility that something could go wrong even though, technically, nothing is wrong right now.

Anxiety can turn preparation into overpreparation pretty quickly.

We’ll look at what keeps anxiety running and work on skills that help you respond differently when it starts asking for more thinking, more planning, or more reassurance.

Not because you need to stop caring.

Because caring and constantly bracing for impact are two different things.

03 / PERFECTIONISM + OVER-CONTROL

Therapy for Perfectionism, High Achievers & Over-Control

Being the person who “has it together” can become a full-time job.

You’re responsible. You notice details. You plan ahead. People trust you to handle things.

Those are probably qualities you genuinely like about yourself.

They can also make it really hard to turn any of it off.

Rest starts needing to be earned. Mistakes feel disproportionately important. A change in plans can throw off your whole day. “Good enough” sounds perfectly reasonable when it’s someone else’s thing and absolutely unacceptable when it’s yours.

We’re not trying to make you less driven.

We’re working on giving you more flexibility around when that drive gets to be in charge.

04 / EMOTION REGULATION

Dialectical Behavior Therapy for Intense Emotions

You’re allowed to have a feeling without immediately knowing what to do with it.

Some emotions hit at a ten. Others hang around for three days.

Sometimes the instinct is to fix them, avoid them, act on them, or shove them down until they eventually come back louder.

Using DBT strategies, we’ll work on noticing emotions earlier, tolerating them when they’re uncomfortable, and having more options for what you do next.

The goal isn’t to be calm all the time. That would be weird.

It’s to feel more capable when you’re not.

05 / PERINATAL MENTAL HEALTH

Perinatal Mental Health Therapy for Pregnancy, Postpartum & Infertility

You can want this deeply and still have a really hard time with it.

Family planning, infertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and becoming a parent can bring up grief, fear, uncertainty, anger, guilt, exhaustion, and a whole lot of feelings people aren’t always great at talking about.

Hillary is certified in perinatal mental health and has particular experience supporting people through family planning, infertility, adjustment to pregnancy, and postpartum difficulties.

There’s no requirement here to be grateful every second, love every part of the experience, or make a complicated season sound uncomplicated.

You get to talk about what it’s actually like.

06 / DEPRESSION

Online Depression Therapy for Teens & Adults

Sometimes depression looks a lot like going through the motions.

You’re doing what needs to get done, but everything takes more effort.

Things you normally enjoy don’t really hit the same. Texts sit unanswered. Plans sound exhausting. The smallest task somehow becomes a whole production.

Depression doesn’t have to look dramatic to be affecting your life.

We’ll pay attention to what it has slowly pulled you away from and work on realistic ways to start reconnecting with your routines, relationships, interests, and yourself.

Not a brand-new morning routine. Not “just think positively.”

Actual steps that make sense for where you are right now.

07 / THERAPY FOR TEENS

Online Therapy for Teens Ages 16+ in Michigan & Illinois

Therapy does not need to feel like another adult telling you what to do.

There are already plenty of people asking about grades, plans, responsibilities, friends, college, sleep, screen time, and whether you finished the thing you said you were going to finish.

This gets to be different.

Therapy can be a place to talk honestly about anxiety, intrusive thoughts, relationships, intense emotions, pressure, perfectionism, depression, or whatever has been making life harder lately.

And because Hillary’s approach is skills-focused, we won’t only talk about it.

We’ll work on what could actually help.

08 / EVIDENCE-BASED THERAPY

CBT, DBT, ERP & ACT Therapy

There’s a reason behind what we’re doing.

Hillary uses evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Different problems call for different kinds of work.

Sometimes that means understanding the connection between a thought, feeling, and behavior. Sometimes it means practicing a skill together. Sometimes it means doing less of the thing that gives you relief right now because it’s making the problem bigger later.

You don’t need to know which acronym you need.

That’s Hillary’s job.

09 / READY WHEN YOU ARE

You’re allowed to want more than just getting through it.

You don’t need to wait until things are unbearable to ask for support. If anxiety, intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, big emotions, or just the effort of keeping everything together is taking more out of you than you’d like, that’s enough.

We can figure out what’s going on and what might actually help.
